It didn’t even turn out as what I thought it would be, going by the numbers in my dream because Barack Obama scored much higher. So wow, I was really surprised! The 2008 election certainly made history as for the very first time ever; it broke the racial barrier across the world. It gave everyone especially the people of color; a sense of relief, since it opened the door for racial equality. Now everybody will have equal chance at the opportunities that America offers. Barack Obama definitely said it all during his speech and last night at long last; the “American Dream” came true. Barack made it happen for not only Martin Luther King Jr. but for everybody…hooray!!! The minority never thought such a DAY would come, because it just seemed impossible, but finally the racial barrier has been broken…yahooh!!! The whole world is so proud of America because the new era was born where “People live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” So indeed this is a new day. Yes we can…let the freedom ring!!!
By the way, for those of you who have doubts about Barack Obama. All I can say based on how I see him not just because of his inspiring words but because of the man that he appears to be; confident, intelligent, and diplomatic is that...I just couldn’t imagine him putting his beloved family on the line; for his own selfish reasons-whatever it may be that you are obviously thinking. Barack Obama to me projects an image that he is a man of integrity and usually a man of his caliber would not risk losing everything that he holds dear in his heart. In fact, he will rise to change not just America but the world. He won’t seize the moment to make his fellow citizens proud. This is the chance to give way for change to prove that America is the nation of all nations; the land of people from all over the world!!! I am actually glad that Barack Obama won it and that only confirmed my dream about him "leading in the race for the white house" is true. I said in my YM status that “Barack Obama will win it!!!” It’s amazing that my premonition about him coming out a winner would actually happen…whoa! Barack Obama as some of us speculate could become one of the greatest presidents of all time if not the greatest of them all. He's got the potential and that is a start. So I give him the benefit of the doubt to prove himself worthy of his position as the United States of America's Commander in Chief.
The new era was born and yes we can!!!

yeah, you're right and i vouch your comments re that matter...hopefully, it will not only open the hearts and minds of people who always had racial discrimination especially to the minority but shall also serves as an eye opener for everybody that there should be no such thing as black, white and or brown race but rather God the Father created as all equal and so be it...
Knowing of elections of US president, and his background, I've been VERY happy that he's been elected. If I were American, I would vote for him too :D
i totally disagree with u. i just don't think it's right to steal from those who worked hard to earn what they have just so he can give it to those who wouldn't try. america is full of opportunities. u only need to work for it and earn it.
i doubt that he would be a good commander-in-chief. how could he, if he didn't experience being in the service first hand?
i can go on and on but it really wouldn't matter now that he won. however, my family and i will be praying for him and for this country. may God bless us all!
i feel the same way Ris...It's so sad that some people think that getting money out from the rich can help the poor. Only a person can help himself and not from others' hard earned money! The only thing we can do is to pray. I got nothing against about his race but listening to his plans and strategies, I just totally disagree BUT we all have different views! Hopefully he can lead this country even with little experience. It's not easy to be a president of the country so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
Thanks for your feedback everyone! I will make this a one time reply, so read below nalang. I understand naman na we all have disagreements kasi we all see things in a different light, na with every experience we all conclude differently. Iba iba ang circumstances kaya nga iba iba din ang solutions. I support the democratic policy because I find it more compassionate to give people a chance to get back up and not because they are lazy. It is especially in favor of the unfortunate. I could not even imagine myself in a situation where my husband lost his job and since there is no job around, we are force to starve to death. A low paying job ($7.00 an hour) is not even enough to survive in this country because it can barely pay for anything. So I believe that the democratic policy is for making sure that nobody is left behind, and not because their only option is to starve to death. There are a number of examples to prove that. A father decided to kill his children because he can no longer feed them, there is no job, and no help, so the only solution is to die their way out of it. Nobody wants to just do nothing if there are jobs around and that is if…it is not so hard to find a job anymore since the NAFTA-jobs left. It is only good if you have the money to wonder elsewhere, if not you simply starve to death. I know for a fact that some people are having trouble right now as they lost their jobs, home next and more (one of my husband’s family members is in such situation). You could actually starve to death in the meantime if not for temporary assistance, or die outside in the cold if you can’t afford a place to stay-lucky for those that have families to take them in. You see those that don't even have the money to leave town, can lose their homes and worse yet starve to death and out in the cold indeed. I don’t think cutting taxes is stealing, because to me it is giving those who are having a hard time a break to be able to re-establish not to lose anything but survive somehow. SS is not for free but earned. We can't compete with those who have money to better themselves education wise, they are ahead because they have the means. We all have different intellectual levels as it is like in a classroom; some can grasp and some can't, so they are left behind that is why in the process we are require to tutor them-teach them so they can catch up and not leave them behind because it is their fault or problem if they can't learn or not getting it. That is what I call compassion. The rich people are way ahead that is why sometimes we have to pause and try to help others for things are not always fair with everybody. You get ahead if you have the money and the intellectual capacity needed to make it. The rich people or the business owners don’t care about providing jobs but making more money by sending jobs overseas that belongs to the Americans and make money in America; selling products made in China and other parts of the world. That alone is unfair for them to do. Okay, that is all. I just wanted to share my side of the story. The abortion thing, well, not everyone is Christian so, I also agree with Obama that we all have the rights to decide for ourselves because after all; only we know what is best for us, and we’re adults, too. It is not a one-size fits all thing-not to others anyway. We all have our say, so we can’t win everybody to agree with us. I understand you if you don’t agree with mine either, because we are all individuals that can see and think for ourselves. We all think we are right…LOL. Peace to all ah.
"The rich people or the business owners don’t care about providing jobs but making more money by sending jobs overseas that belongs to the Americans and make money in America; selling products made in China and other parts of the world."
There's a reason behind that, why they provide jobs overseas. Some unions have ruin companies and businesses and that's why the way to make their business work is to have it overseas but I know there are cases too that business owners are just plain greedy and pay those poor ppl in India or China in so little money!
"Nobody wants to just do nothing if there are jobs around and that is if…it is not so hard to find a job anymore since the NAFTA-jobs left."
If you settle for anything, you can still find a job and even with the lowest minimum wage, you can survive if you don't have a lot to keep up with. It all depends on what your lifestyle is. I believe lots of people loosing their jobs end up killing themselves bcoz they have mortgages, loans and spent the money that they didn't have to begin with. In other words, living pay check to pay check so, once the job is gone...there is no way to support all their credits and stuff! That's when you realize how important it is to "Save for the Future". Honestly, my husband earns good money from his business but he doesn't live like a king. He makes sure he owes nothing to anyone or anything and won't buy if he can't pay it to begin with. As a matter of fact, he treats life like there's always tomorrow so he makes sure he saves for the future so when things get rough and no more jobs for him, that's when he can be thankful for all his savings and he tries to be self sufficient as well like having our own farm. YES- not anyone can afford a farm but he didn't start out rich. His grandparents even scrape salt in the ground and use tar as their chewing gum, that's how poor they were but he worked so hard and get where he is at. He lived in beans everyday just to be in college and any decent ways and means to achieve his goals. When you give to people, you take away their motivation and I always believe that.
I don't see myself as being right just throwing my penny thoughts here. For me, we need to give Obama a chance and see first how well he will deal with all the problems in America before I say something bad against him *wink*
Thanks for the feedback, Jen. You have a point din naman kasi nga may reasons din ang mga business owners to outsource the jobs overseas to help daw create jobs and better the economy pero, ang result kasi ay not so good. Now Americans are suffering na, they are having to flip hamburgers instead of being able to find a job that they went to school for-naging useless na ang skills nila. Nurses and other professions na hands-on with people dire stay kaya nga in demand kaayo, almost everybody na ay taking up nursing...LOL. So, they feel na it's unfair talaga, kasi companies would rather employ people for a few pennies overseas. They are helping people doon while leaving out their people here. Sort of stealing na din sa American people where jobs belong. If you take dollars dapat you pay dollars din-and not pay pennies and take dollars. Depende nga sa lifestyle eh as to how you survive kaso lang everything is getting so expensive-even gas prices, if di na ma-solved soon mag bike nalang uban ani, medyo impossible na talaga. Saka I don't see it as stealing if the democratic party decided to give the poor tax break/cut, yon nga lang ang mga rich will have to continue paying for their tax. I think naman na by giving the poor a break would help them to be able to keep up and stay on track na they can get back up since they have a chance to re-establish. Speaking of being self-suffient, how nice to know that your husband is managing so well, good for him. Nobody wants to owe money man sab, not I either nor my husband kaya he settles with driving an old car. We spent most of my husband's savings na nga eh trying to survive noon without a job kay bisag ultimo na job, full naman. So, I am appreciative about the fact that there is a party that thinks of the less fortunate. We all could use some help in case of emergency, and thankful enough na kami that we live in America where such exists. In the Philippines we have the same thing, yon nga lang di ko alam if the government gives people a break. Medyo unfair sa mga rich people because they have to keep paying tax while others are taking a break, pero the fact na they have so much na, out of compasion na talaga na we have to think of others in need, kaya nga we help the poor-lalo na sa Africa, lots of Americans do, to give us a better life-like our husbands kaya...LOL. I am trying to find a job here din, but so far nobody hired me yet, even when I am willing to settle for anything. Full na full ata, and we have no money to keep moving, we'll only end up in a jam-not right now kay bad ang economy-we'll lose our house dahil bumaba ang value. So we live good enough to survive nalang. We could live better if to say my husband is still working, but it's so sad that people turned him down for being old na sabi nila he should be retired na. Your husband is lucky to have a business that works; otherwise life would be tough talaga. My husband's family own a farm din for producing crops, but lagi it is so hard to maintain, it involve lots of sacrificing, but if we have to live like that, why not. It is like in a race track ba some of us can run so fast so pag we are so far ahead na, we need to slow down so others can catch up or to give others a chance to catch up-out of compassion. May kanya kanyang deskarte yon nga lang not all ay successful.
Oftentimes we think with our heads and not with our hearts lalo na if money is concerned. Well, gaya sa sinabi ko na... it's the beauty of being in America that nobody is left out in the cold to die. Americans are compassionate people; they couldn't just look at you dying, they help when they can because that is what is right and they don’t think about sacrificing a bit if it is for a good cause. Money is no object after all it can be earned again, yon nga lang rich ay rich na kaya ok nalang sa ilaha mo pay tax. Poor people will get a break na muna-looy man god. It requires a heart to feel the pain, kaya people needs compassion not humiliation na if you don't work you simply don't eat-ang heatless naman ng ganyan. I guess that shows us na we need to think with our hearts sometimes and not always with our heads. Anyway, I am all for being self-sufficient oy, I don't like to receive unless I can reciprocate, we earn what we get ba. I give though without expecting anything in return-I do it on a daily basis with my people back home; that is my passion sa life-it makes me happy to do good deeds ba. Mao na I am after mag work early to put in for my SS. It's good to be self-suffient yon nga lang nothing is forever nor for sure, kaya just in case naka beyond your means ang gastosan mo, how nice that the Government will step forward to help you. I also understand na it takes the motivation sa uban pero it takes understanding din na not all ay under sa the same circumstances. Ok ah, I am writing a book na, di naman ako authority, yon nga lang we all see things differently gaya sa beauty-it's in the eye of the beholder talaga.
hi an, nalingaw man nuon ko kse we get to interact bah...yah, nice to hear out ppl what they think and like u, u don't get neither too excited nor irritated and that's why i like checking out ur respond. Meron kseng iba they get too intense na and ends up insulting others. Yah, I'm with you nga na mawad-an nag compassion ning uban lalo na mga republicans. Honestly, me and hubby always have a long discussion when we talk about politics coz there are things that i don't agree with him kahit na conservative ako. I hate the fact that some rich ppl wouldn't help and has no compassion for those who are poor and helpless and that to me applies to the Philippines. I see poor there are REAL poor. Here, there's no excuse. Yes, some are unfortunate but no one is deprived here. You can stand on your own if you work hard to achieve any goals you have.
I see that gas is going down a lot since a lot of ppl are cutting back from driving. I'm also with u that the economy is going down hill na gyud. It has to do with a lot of reasons and hopefully Obama can rise up this country.
As for being old then no one hires you, that's when I remember hubby kept telling me "Gotta make the money while I can and save it coz when I'm old, no one might want me anymore." It's irritating for me now but in due time, we will enjoy the benefit of his principles in life just like now,we are so glad we have that farm and it requires a lot of expenses, hardwork and sacrifices to make farming work which I am not totally prepared, hahaha! {yes, I am a BIG city girl} Although, we might not be able to sell our old house in a good amount, that's the way it is and we just have to REALLY cut back on our expenses which is another thing that irritates me coz sa una pa lang, ingon ana na permi sulti niya mao na feeling nko pobre pa mi sa daga pero ako? gastador!Hahaha! That's why cguro gipartner ko skong bana nga super kuripot!LOL! Anyways, u made my morning kay it wakes me up really good, excited man ko unsa tubag nimo...hehehe! Ayu2 and have a good weekend!!!
I am calm lang naman kasi I understand na some people sometimes are burried in thinking so much technically, and perhaps they don't even try to put themselvs sa shoes ng people that are struggling right now as we speak, daghan ayo ga kamang ron. So, I try not to be over emotional sa things that can be solved in a diplomatic way. Yep, I am with "That One"...ahahaha! I understand man pod na fixed na kaayo ang thinking sa uban ba, they don't have an open-mind na to accept the other side of the situation-give it a second chance, mao na uban seems cruel na. Parang walang paki-alam kong ikamatay na sa uban ang paghihirap. Naku! Buti nalang Americans are not like that...ahohoh. Hey, medyo we're in the same boat ha, mao man sab ako bana kuripot. Ako ang gastador, but will try hard gyod to cover everything and looking forward to go back to school and be somebody someday. I want to get working and I wish I can be a an RN baya, money ra needed ani-mag loan gyod ko ani if I want to catch a big fish. Sige ah, let's work hard bitaw for what we want sa life, there is nothing like achieving what you achieve because of your very own hard work-with sweat and blood. It makes you so proud ba and I like that feeling, I am independent baya. We all have to earn eh, but since given a chance to not have to worry about paying tax na muna, we could use the extra money to help better ourselves (let's put it to good use). Daghan ani mag go back to school siguro, at least may assurance that they won't have to lose their homes ba, lalo na those that have small children to be out in the street na freezing cold, nga ni sasakyan wala sila sos, looya tawon. I have seen people living in their vehicles baya because they couldn't find work, not willing to ask for help din, so may pride ning uban, would rather starve or freeze to death lalo na ang mga lalaki-young and handsome pa naman...ahekhek. Ok ah, thanks sa kind comments about me, I try to be level headed although, I can be stubborn and argumentative daw. I am just not willing to turn the other cheek on those that are suffering, my heart bleeds for them, lalo na those in Africa, grabe, daghan ayo ga suffer in Darfur and Rowanda particulary. The fact that most jobs left, daghan gyod na apektohan oy, in fact ga lay off na uban ron, so who's next? Those that are working better hope na di ma lay off, but hey, need not to worry Barack is stepping in to let you keep your jobs! Sorry for being redundant, medyo tabian ra gyod ko...[wink].
hi an, btaw ai bilib ko nimo kay kalma lang ka and i am always careful pod nga maka offend ko but unfortunately, sounds like your hubby didn't like my comments. Can't blame him, we can get irritated of other's comments but i hope he won't think I am being offensive or thinking irrational. IT's just my opinion and just like him he got his own too. We just don't think alike, that's all. I know I haven't lived here in US long enough like he did but as a person, normal talaga magka opinion tayo even nga etong 5yr old ko,hehehe! So, I am hoping to keep the peace with your hubby...take care!
Naku! Di naman sa na offend siya, Jen. He just thought na ang comments about "stealing from the rich and give it to the poor" ay misunderstood, kasi that is not how it is daw. America is completely different kaysa Philippines dahil sa apektado ang jobs here na gina outsource. No jobs are outsourced in the Philippines-not that I heard of pa anyway. So this country is not exactly full of opportunities as what people like to think it is....LOL. Not these days na since NAFTA. So that is what my husband is getting at, that people don’t seem to get it. He just wanted to make his point, and hopes that those that think like that would hear his side of the story. I don’t really think that giving the low income individuals a tax break is stealing; perhaps it is a necessary step sometimes to prevent the country from becoming third world. It is a lot different here simply because the government is not as crooked compare to our government in the Philippines…LOL. That being the reason alone leaves our country in poverty. Our government doon helps the people (very little nga lang eh, no med) as well as themselves…LOL-kaya nga Marcus made out like a bandit…LOL, and Erap din pala…LOL. Sa hirap ng buhay sometimes we have to take drastic measures to prevent something like extreme poverty to the point where children starves to death na, lalo na sa Pinas pag no jobs around people are force to steal and commit crimes. Lately though, may welfare na ang mga poor ha, hanga ako dahil sa nobody has to die because they couldn’t afford to go to a hospital gaya sa neighbor naming so poor na when she gave birth dapat i-cesarean but since no money the Gov helped her-how nice I thought. Okay, lets blog in peace, let’s not take things too seriously that we end up feeling like we want to lash out on each other…LOL. This is nothing to fight about anyway; we all are entitled to our own opinions este "Everyone is entitled to their own opinion". It is not also you or Rissa that affected my husband sa post nya, may other Pinays din na took things a little too far sa saying na it is stealing and if “you don’t work you don’t eat”…LOL. Sorry if na natamaan kayo ha, my husband just had to voice out din. In life, I learned that I would never know what it feels like for people that lost their loved ones unless it happened to me. So, medyo hard mag calculate ng isang situation if you have not been through it, life is hard over here if you don’t have a job, it’s okay kong our husbands are working or have a business lang because we can get by somehow. Pag not, naku! Ni sa imagination di mo magawa, mahirap na nga ngayon eh nga may PPP pa tayo, how much more kong wala…LOL. Mag collect nya ta ani cans sa basorahan para may ika-palit pagkaon, kaya mao na nga I am thankful na no matter what America takes care of its people. Okay, tc! Ty din for interacting with me, it’s been fun and I enjoyed it.
mao gyud ann...i saw a documentary of mexican family here in US. They collected cans and bottles at dawn til dusk just to put their kid into college and believe it or not, nakapasok sa Harvard yung son nila that's what they try to tell everyone here, you will not starve to death daw and can achieve anything if you sacrifice a lot and work really hard without complaining, yun ang message ng parents ng guy not from me ha...hehehe! Anyways, di naman sa natamaan Ann, his message was obviously a reply din sa mga comments namin but no BIG deal, it's good to hear out things din to help everyone open up their minds...nung nasabi ni Rissa nagpost hubby mo, I was just curious what he thinks and just surprised that he sounded irritated using the words "hell", "didn't do our homework" but I know we are all different, that's just how he express himself, I guess no worries...friend naman kita kaya friend ko yang hubby mo,hehehe! Seriously, I really like you Ann kahit magkaiba pa tayo ng opinion...so, there's no fight really and I felt that even when we were responding at each others' opinion kaya I didn't mind going back here...have a good day!
one more thing diay ann, i forgot about the comment "stealing from the rich and giving it to the poor". I am with Rissa here, it is stealing I belive because it wasn't voluntarily given. Honestly, If I was rich, I wouldn't think twice of helping the poor, that's IF! hehehe! BUT for someone who decided for your money and take it away from u to help somebody else, that's totally stealing. He who earns it decides what it is for. If he decides to help, God Bless him! BUT if not, there's nothing we can do, we can't condemn them or judge them, that's their own decision. I know lots of rich people work their way up there, not just sitting down, doing nothing and waiting for help. I know meron din napagmanahan nila from their family but most that I've heard, seen and known as successful started out really really poor, came to this country and worked hard.Just have the determination to survive, reach their goals and not wait for the government to help them. That's just my observation...hala siya...maglalaba na nga ako satsat ako ng satsat d2 pero nalingaw man sad ko,hehehe!
Bitaw, Jen, I enjoyed our conversation here because we have had equal opportunity to hear from each other's point of view. Nalingaw sab bitaw ko interacting with you. Nag clash atong opinions pero saon kay we are all unique and different kaya iba-iba ang opinions...LOL. Our outlook in life sets us apart from the rest daw eh. It is because we are different that we are impossible to find...LOL. Di ba, true yan? Sabi din nila if you are not a follower you are a leader...LOL. Iba iba talaga ang perspectives natin dahil sa iba iba din ang life experiences natin. Sometimes we draw our conclusion based on the situation that we are under, nga na influence ta ba. Mao na nga ikaw din, masabi na stealing ang pag take from the rich kay depende sa pag view nga yan...LOL. I read somebody's blog din eh na if you don't work you don't eat kaya nga na triggered na rin ako mag voice out what I think then. Pahabol lang ito; sa hirap ng buhay ngayon la na cans for us to find kay maunahan naman tawon mi ng mga homeless...LOL. We try that whenever we have a chance for extra money...LOL. Buti nalang we have eBay...LOL. How nice bitaw sa uban like the Mexican family to have a story of success-it's admiring. People should do whatever possible to survive indeed. I couldn't agree with you more!
As for my husband, medyo sa self-expression na gyod na niya mo say "Hell" I caught it when I came here the first time pero I realized na I can only be the person that I am, and not because somebody made me to be-though sometimes ma push ta. The increase in profanity minsan ay unavoidable lalo na pag you are a man...LOL. I was surprised my husband included the "Hell" I didn't expect it. He is used to saying things like that kasi medyo na used in a regular basis na yon saying "what the hell is that or this?" I don't talk like that though, unless ma-immune ko, maka pick up and it slips through...LOL or to say I am being attacked then I throw it back lang...LOL. I also catch things sa ibang bloggers na sabi heck out of me...LOL. Gosh this and that expressions, kinda catchy kasi eh. Ok ah, our discussions have been fun, thanks for throwing in your two cents!
